This is a Special Purpose Machine. It is used for making key-ways on shafts. At present this operation is done either on lathe machine or on conventional milling machine which takes lot of time and it is a cumbersome process. But due to the advent of our new milling machine, this operation so simple, precise and fast; that ultimately it is done at low cost.

This machine gives precise keyways with high production at low cost. This is best suited for achieving P-9 tolerances for shaft keyways.

Working

It is a very robust design. The shaft is clamped with self-centering vice. The spindle motor is started. The feed motor is started. The endmill cutter is lowered and touched to the shaft, where keyway is to be cut. At each stroke spindle steps down by 0.1 m.m. At the desired final depth that is set on the counter, the machine gets automatically stopped with instant sound of buzzer.

This machine is designed for resharpening of the full carbide endmill cutter. In this machine a diamond wheel is used and all the necessary angles, required for endmill cutter; are given fixed on the mounting of the endmill cutter fixture. So this process is simple and very quick.
